Lightwave therapy is the most sophisticated Light Emitting Diode Therapy application in the industry – Lightwave LED therapy uses Red light therapy as well as Infrared and Blue light therapy for anti aging, skin rejuvenation, stretch marks, wrinkles, cellulite, acne scars and more.
Best of all, Lightwave LED therapy has no negative side effects. Not only is light therapy painless – from Red light therapy to Infrared – but actually soothing and relaxing. And whether Lightwave therapy is used for cellulite, acne scars or as an anti aging treatment for wrinkles, the recovery time is zero.
What is Lightwave therapy?
LightWave works by a process called Photobiostimulation (the stimulation of life processes with light)—like photosynthesis with plants. It uses both visible red and invisible infrared light to stimulate the body’s regenerative metabolism at the cellular level. In other words, it provides the body with what it needs to produce the energy to heal itself.
LightWave is used on the face to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by increasing cellular hydration, blood flow, nutrient–intake and waste removal within the various layers of the skin and supporting tissues. It can also be used to reduce the appearance of scars, burns, sun damage, sunspots and pregnancy mask. Additionally, LightWave can be used to improve ANY area of the body. It may be used to tighten tired, flaccid skin on the breasts and abdomen, stretch marks, “orange peel” scars, and cellulite.
LightWave technology, with both red and infrared therapy to stimulate rejuvenation in damaged tissues, is used to help heal and polish the skin after a more intense laser procedure or may be used alone to reverse the effect of aging and other damage to skin and body tissues. LightWave significantly enhances the results of medical microdermabrasion, chemical peeling, anti–cellulite regimens, and IPL PhotoFacials. It is the first light therapy system specifically designed and approved by the FDA for aesthetic application to the entire body.
LightWave may be used after any procedure for faster healing and more prominent results or on its own. When used alone most people see noticeable changes in six to eight treatments, but some see improvement after their first or second. It takes an average of 14–21 days for cells to complete their rejuvenation cycle, so you will continue to see improvements for two to three weeks after each treatment.
How does Blue light therapy work?
Blue light therapy is used in conjunction with Red light therapy for adolescent and adult acne and acne scar treatment. From acne treatment for mild to severe acne and acne scars, to skin care for acne, Lightwave can help. Blue light treatment is a natural, effective skin rejuvenation technique, and can be used to activate PDT, or photodynamic therapy.
Four common causes of adolescent and adult acne include:
- Increased oil production
- Unusual shedding of dead skin cells
- Increased bacteria
LED light therapy address these issues when it comes to mild/moderate acne, acne scars, skin care for acne, and even severe acne in some cases. Blue light therapy and Red light therapy alone can be used to target acne and acne scars. However, when Blue light therapy and red light therapy are used in conjunction with each other; they are much more effective at targeting inflammatory acne. In some cases, Blue light is used on its own. As a stand alone, Blue light is usually most effective when used to activate 5-aminolevulinic Acid (ALA) during photodynamic therapy (PDT).
During the process of blue light therapy, the skin is exposed to Blue light (417nm), which is quickly absorbed by acne-causing bacteria. Molecules within the bacteria then react by producing singlet oxygen and free radicals that in-turn destroy the P. Acnes bacteria. Once the body has been exposed to Blue light, the use of Red light therapy helps to restore normal cellular function and promotes healthy skin rejuvenation. The process is the same for the treatment of acne scars when targeting both adolescent and adult acne needs. Severe acne is often treated using a more aggressive treatment such as 5-aminolevulinic Acid (ALA) during photodynamic therapy (PDT). In order to maintain health skin, a topical skin care for acne is also recommended.
How does Red light therapy work?
Red light therapy is used in conjunction with invisible Infrared light for skin rejuvenation, cellulite reduction, stretch marks and more. And when this type of LIGHTWAVE therapy is used for acne scar reduction, it’s combined with Blue light therapy (which can also be used to activate photodynamic therapy, or phototherapy).
This therapy can also help reduce wrinkles. As for Blue light therapy, it intensifies the immune functions in the skin and can also be used for photodynamic therapy, or phototherapy.
How does Infrared light therapy work?
Infrared light therapy treatment is used in conjunction with Red light therapy and Blue light therapy for a wide range of skin rejuvenation purposes – including facial rejuvenation, facial wrinkle treatment, acne treatment, acne scar treatment and cellulite treatment.
