It’s a fact of life: as we age, the natural substances that provide the skin with structure and volume decrease. This skin loses its ability to retain moisture and elasticity; therefore it sags and forms wrinkles. Matrix IR™ Fractional Wrinkle Reduction with ELOS Fractional technology can offer superior results with the highest levels of comfort and safety.
The Matrix IR™ Fractional Wrinkle Reduction procedure, featuring revolutionary ELOS Fractional technology, enables you to comfortably achieve a more youthful appearance without downtime.
At Cosmetic Laser MD, Susan Stevens Tanne, M.D. is proud to offer ELOS, the first and only technology that uses combined energies to effectively and gently reduce mild to moderate wrinkles. ELOS is truly the next generation of safe and effective wrinkle treatment technology.
“The Matrix IR is a powerful tool for wrinkles, one of the most difficult problems for aesthetic treatment,” says Dr. Tanne. “With the Matrix IR applicator, I am able to achieve deep, predictable results.”
Wrinkles are caused by the loss of collagen beneath the skin surface. Collagen is a basic building block of the skin and provides the foundation that supports your skin’s structure. Overall, exposure to ultraviolet radiation from sunlight accounts for about 90% of the symptoms of premature skin aging, and most of these effects occur by age 20.
Collagen is also damaged by other factors, including: the natural aging process, cigarette smoking, and air pollution. When this happens, the skin appears thinner and becomes less elastic, resulting in facial lines, wrinkles, texture changes, and visible signs of aging.
Matrix IR™ Fractional Wrinkle Reduction is a safe, comfortable treatment in a pampering environment. Dr. Tanne performs all Matrix IR™ Fractional Wrinkle Reduction treatments. After making the patient comfortable, the patient’s skin is deeply cleansed using an appropriate skin cleanser and the Clarisonic MD™ cleansing brush. Protective coverings are placed over the patient’s eyes, and conductive gel is applied to the treatment area. A series of combined laser and radio frequency pulses are applied to the skin until reduction in wrinkle appearance is visualized. The pulses are often described as a warm snap to the skin, and most patients find the treatment very comfortable. Upon completion, the gel is removed, and the skin may be cooled to enhance patient comfort while reducing any residual redness. The final step is the application of sunscreen.
Laser and radiofrequency energy can be used to heat up the deeper layers of the skin while protecting the surface skin. The Matrix IR™ by Syneron™ combines a fractionated 915nm diode laser and bipolar radiofrequency, which precisely heat the connective tissue within the target treatment area, reducing facial wrinkles and scars. This heating stimulates collagen production and produces a firming effect, resulting in reduction of the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, perioral wrinkles, crow’s feet, forehead lines, and scars. Because the energy is fractionated, more intense light energy can be delivered into microscopic zones, leaving untreated skin around these zones that assist in healing and collagen remodeling, allowing for more effective treatments. Mild to moderate wrinkles are reduced, and the texture of your skin becomes smoother and more elastic.
A series of three to five treatments will reduce wrinkles and scars. This will help to reduce frown and forehead lines, crow’s feet, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and wrinkles around the mouth revealing a more relaxed alert looking appearance. Maintenance treatments will be needed over time to maintain the result achieved.
ELOS technology enables Matrix IR Wrinkle Reduction to be a safe and effective solution for all skin types. Patients looking to improve wrinkles or scars in a non–ablative manner without injections, are good candidates for these treatments. You should not have treatments with Matrix IR™ if you are pregnant or have been on Accutane within the past 3 months. In addition, patients with pacemakers, internal defibrillators, or metal implants should not have these treatments. Patients who have diabetes, an autoimmune disease, history of cold sores, or have had injectable fillers in the area to be treated should let us know prior to treatment with Matrix IR™.
