XEOMIN treatments produce the same beautiful outcome as Botox, and results last just as long. Choose XEOMIN (Zee-Oh-Min) to erase the lines between & above your brows, lift the brows, reduce Crow’s feet, and more. Being a smaller, more refined protein, XEOMIN is considered to be more pure than the original Botox. XEOMIN is actually very similar to Botox in many respects. It is a botulinum toxin type A and is used in the same dosage amounts as the better known brand. What makes it slightly different is that it is more pure than in that it doesn’t contain any additional additives. What this means is that it is less likely to cause any adverse effects such as allergic reactions. Another major benefit is that the human body is less likely to become resistant to this pure-form injectable because there are fewer ingredients in the solution.
Cosmetic Laser MD was among the first 100 Aesthetic Medical Practices in the US to receive Xeomin® for cosmetic use beginning November 2011. XEOMIN, a recent alternative to BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport®, developed by Merz Aesthetics, is one of the latest treatments for skin tightening and wrinkle reduction on the market today. Designed to reduce the appearance of frown lines and control excessive underarm sweating for patients who suffer from hyperhidrosis, XEOMIN® is now being offered by Dr. Tanne to all our patients who are looking for a more youthful, vibrant complexion.
Unlike BOTOX Cosmetic or Dysport, XEOMIN has a low protein count, which can be beneficial to patients who may have an allergic reaction to those dermal injections or who may have developed antibodies to other treatments. XEOMIN can offer the same great results as BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport. Through a quick, in-office procedure, you can enhance your appearance by smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines during your lunch hour.
How does the treatment work?
Xeomin temporarily reduces the contractions of the muscles that cause wrinkles. By relaxing the muscles, the overlying skin becomes smoother. Several tiny injections are administered directly into the muscles that cause lines and wrinkles. Susan Stevens Tanne, M.D. will determine where those muscles are located, and will discuss appropriate treatment options with you.
Is Xeomin safe?
Xeomin is safe and have very few side effects. Rare side effects include headache, flu symptoms and temporary eyelid droop.
Will there be any downtime?
You may resume normal activities immediately. Vigorous exercise or lying flat may be restricted for a few hours following treatment. Many patients undergo Xeomin treatment during their lunch break and return to work after treatment.
What are the benefits of Xeomin?
Xeomin has no downtime as opposed to other wrinkle reducing methods. Also, following treatment there is no pain or discomfort. Results can be seen within 3 – 10 days depending on several factors.
How long does Xeomin treatment last?
Xeomin treatment takes only a few minutes and depends on how many areas are being injected and the size of the treated areas. Most of the time used by Dr. Tanne is spent assessing how you move your facial muscles and in planning your treatment.
Is Xeomin treatment painful?
The only pain or discomfort is a slight pinprick sensation from the small needle injecting the Xeomin.
How long do results last?
Results of Xeomin vary and can last up to four months. Generally, most people can expect three months of improvement. Treatments should be repeated every three to four months for maintenance.
Who are candidates r foXeomin?
Candidates for Xeomin injections are age eighteen and older, interested in improving the appearance of their face. Many candidates are seeking relief from wrinkles and brow furrows, and looking to achieve a more rested, relaxed appearance.
Who should avoid Xeomin?
Do not use Xeomin if you have an infection in the areas to be injected, are allergic to any of the ingredients in Xeomin or are pregnant. Some conditions may increase the chance of infection, so Dr. Tanne should be advised of your medical history before receiving Xeomin.
What are the alternative treatments?
An alternative treatment to Xeomin is skin resurfacing, which includes many types of laser therapies and chemical peels. This will, however, not relax the lines created when muscle movement occurs. These procedures can be painful and may have a much longer recovery time than Xeomin. Other alternatives include surgery such as a brow lift.
Is additional treatment necessary?
Generally, after three to four months, the Xeomin effects will begin to fade and facial features will gradually return to their former state. Maintenance treatments are necessary to keep the effect for long periods of time.
What are the limitations of Xeomin?
Xeomin is not a permanent answer to reducing wrinkles. Also, results vary and occasional problems with asymmetry may occur.
Who provides the Xeomin treatments?
All Xeomin treatments at Cosmetic Laser MD are performed by Dr. Tanne.
Instructions before treatment:
Avoid alcoholic beverages and anti–inflammatory medications, especially aspirin, before treatment. Schedule a Xeomin appointment at least two weeks prior to any special events to allow time to heal.
Instructions after treatment:
Treat any mild discomfort with Tylenol, and expect temporary swelling. Do not massage the treated areas because it may move the Xeomin around and create a different effect. It is generally recommended to remain upright for four hours after injections and avoid aerobic activity for a few hours.
